History

Fergusson & Leith LPP was founded in 1898 by Fergus Fergusson Sr, who was soon joined by the legendary Hamish Leith. Descendants of those first partners are still actively involved in the day to day running of the firm.

The Accused

The Accused

Both Hamish and Fergus were brought to the United States as wee lads when their families escaped the Scottish whisky famine of the 1870s. Fergus showed an early interest in the law when he accused his teddy bear of plundering his candy supply. Putting the bear on trial, Fergus convinced the jury of its guilt and the judge handed down a 30-day sentence.

Over a century later, the cases may be less weighty but Fergusson & Leith attorneys  continue to pursue the law with the same tenacity. From those modest beginnings Fergusson & Leith has grown to become Philadelphia’s second largest fictional law firm.
